red-green color blindness

I was tested at a very young age and determined to be “red-green CB” The test on this web site indicates “total colour blindness.” I just wonder how every one else sees color. I enjoy bright vivid colors, so how can I have total CB? I see colors, but have trouble defining the color I see. I colored my skies purple, grass brown because that looked like blue and green. Never could see a red apple on a green tree. I guess that’s classic R-G CB, right? But I do see and distinguish colors. Maybe vivid, clearly defined colors I’m OK, the shades are the problem? I enjoy bright colors so much, I just wonder what they look like to other people.
