eye drops to reduce pressure

I was diagnosed with open angle glaucoma 18 months ago because my eye pressures were high. So far my eyes have not been damaged by this but my consultant offered me a choice of going onto a lifelong eye pressure reducing drop or just keep monitoring me. I chose to go with the treatment.

Unfortunately I was severely allergic to the drops and had to change to another type which I thought were ok. But I developed a complete nasal blockage through polyps and congestion and although these are not listed as a side effects to my eyedrops my consultant told me not all side effects are reported to the drug companies and it is quite likely the drops could have caused my nose problem. Since this happened I have had nasal surgery and stopped using my eye drops and Im now in perfect health.

My eye pressures however are not normal but there is a new preservative free product now available which I am going to try and get my doctor to prescribe since apparently its the preservatives in these eye preparations that most people have allergic reactions to.
