To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download ROP for 24 years I was born at 26 weeks in 1977. I developed ROP due to the complications of being born so early. I didn’t know I had any retinal problems until I was about 7 years old. I then had my first eye surgery when I was 8, this was to be followed by 3 more invasive surgeries (totaling scleral buckles on each eye, and vitrecomies in each eye). I am very fortunate that I am able to see well enough to drive. My corrective vision with contacts or eye glasses is about 20/25-20/30-35 depending on the day. I still follow with the retina specialist and was just recently in a car wreck that jarred my head enough for him to be concerned about my eyes. I will go back in 3 weeks to follow up. But, i am proof the ROP babies can lead healthy wonderful active lives. I am a Registered Nurse and just graduated with my masters in nursing this summer. Keep up hope. Comments
